In the last 3 weeks I have developed a new symptom. Jerking in my legs and feet. I have had muscle twitches and spasms for years but this is different. It feels the same as when my reflexes are tested by tapping below the knee, only the lower part of my leg just jumps at random without any outside stimuli. sometimes it's just from the ankle down. It is very bizarre to be lying in bed and see both legs suddenly leap up as if startled.
In other news, I purchased a wheelchair today. My legs have been so weak and with the jerking I do not feel steady on them so I purchased the chair so I can still have a bit of freedom outside the house if there's someone around to push me.

- My name is Jessica and I am 35 yrs old. 9 years ago I contracted Lyme Disease. Fluctuating heart rate,intermittent rheumatoid arthritis pain, extreme muscle weakness, tremors and memory loss followed. I lost my job, apartment, ability to care for myself, and spent a year bouncing between homeless shelters, friends houses and the hospital. 5 years ago I moved into my dad's spare room and for the last 3 have required a motorized wheelchair to maneuver outside the house. Without cash benefits from the government, my focus is on raising funds to meet my daily needs and pay for treatment. Throughout this ordeal there have been moments when I have considered giving up, but I refuse to let this illness win. I am writing this blog in hopes that others will gain some inspiration from my story and know that they are not alone on their journey.
